HEAD COACH patrick stewart
Lake Oconee Academy is pleased to introduce Patrick Stewart as the new head of the school wide football program for the upcoming school year.
Stewart played college football at Middle Tennessee State University under Coach Rick Stockstill. Coach Stockstill instilled his passion for coaching and leading young men. After college, Stewart was a Defensive Assistant for the University of Georgia under Coach Kirby Smart where he learned how a successful and high-standard program is run.
Stewart most recently served as the Defensive Coordinator for LOA. Prior to that, he was the Running Backs/Linebackers coach and the Special Teams/Recruiting Coordinator at George Walton Academy in Monroe, Ga. He was also the Head Football Coach for Loganville Christian Academy reenergizing the program to finish as the runner-up in the region and reaching the 2nd round of state playoffs. He earned the 2019 Coach of The Year for Walton County.
Stewart’s passion is helping student athletes realize their dreams and aspire to reach the next level. While at GWA and LCA, he ensured 100% of the student athletes who wanted to play at the collegiate level were able to achieve their dream to play college football on scholarship.
Stewart and his wife Jordan have lived in the lake area for a year now and look forward to continuing to be involved and grow with this community.
DefenSIVE COORDINATOR Mark Miller
Coach Mark Miller brings more than 25 years of experience of coaching high school athletics in the state of Georgia. Over half of those years have been spent as the head football and/or head baseball coaching capacity at the varsity high school level. Coach Miller has served as Head Coach at Woodward Academy, Strong Rock Christian School, Our Lady of Mercy, Landmark Christian and Locust Grove High School. Football and baseball respectively.
Coach Miller is extremely excited to be at Lake Oconee Academy as the new Head Baseball Coach as well as the Defensive Coordinator in the football program.
Coach Miller’s philosophy for winning in high school calls for a commitment to hard work, coaching to develop players from the younger ages forward, relationship building and a desire to pursue greatness.
Mark is a native of East Point, Ga. He graduated from Woodward Academy and attended Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, before graduating from Excelsior College, Albany, New York. He has been married to his wife, Leigh Ann, for 30 years. They have four children, Peyton, Bailey, Sydney and Cole, as well as three grandchildren, Cash, June and Knox.
OffenSIVE COORDINATOR Cole bennett
Cole Bennett is joining the LOA football program as the Offensive Coordinator as well as the Head Middle School Baseball Coach. He is going into his 4th year of teaching, and 8th year of coaching high school sports. Coach Bennett graduated from the University of Georgia in 2018 with a B.S. in Mathematics Education. During his time in Athens, he coached football and baseball at Athens Academy for 4 years. After graduation, Bennett moved to Calhoun High School where he coached football and baseball for the Yellow Jackets for the last 3 years.
Coach Bennett and his wife, Anna Kate, currently live in the Lake Oconee area. They are both excited about this new adventure with LOA.
